Never a dull moment with Mike Tyson or Logan Paul. In an episode of Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Iron Mike was very open about his use of psilocybin, DMT and even hallucinogenic toads in Mexico. The former 90s heavy weight champ also came prepared; among his entourage was his shroom guy who had magic mushrooms literally in hand and ready to be eaten.
At first it was Logan who couldn’t stop eyeing the off-screen fungus but as he comments on it a hand appears on screen holding 4 grams of mushies which are first given to the podcast co-host as if it were show and tell. As the co-host describes the golden caps and blueish marks on the stems both him and Paul can’t seem to get over the volume/weight that’s in front of them. They ask Tyson if this is a typical dose for him and his response is, ”I’m just gettin ready to shove it down.”
But even more electrifyingly as the former heavy weight boxer is popping them into his mouth he brags that he used to eat “bags” at a time and his shroom guy confirms. “He would just eat a whole ounce and go to the gym and workout,” can be heard from his crew off camera. A combination of shock and laughter follows that comment as within seconds the mushrooms are in Tyson’s hand, then mouth and he takes it all in one shot with no water, food or chaser.
Paul’s cohost, an experienced shroomer, points out how difficult dried shrooms can be to get down the hatch with nothing to aid it along and again shroom guy chips in from off camera with, “Oh he chews it down to a paste.”
About half a minute later Tyson is still carrying on, responding to questions while chewing and Paul asks if he’s even going to have any water, which has been untouched in front of him this whole time. The former champ completely ignores the suggestion and goes on explaining the link between humans and mushrooms. “It’s a fungus, it’s what we’re made out of,” he said and “When we die, we turn into mushrooms, we turn into fungus” can be heard as he continues to chew through his therapeutic snack.
When asked if federal legalization of psilocybin therapy could be potentially problematic Iron Mike’s response was, “I think this will be the best thing since the 21st century.” Obviously he’s an advocate and at one point he offered Paul a dose who refused saying he was too worried about doing it on camera and embarrassing himself. Clearly, both men know and respect their limits. Also keep in mind Logan Paul is still active in his career. He may fight again and also has a WWE contract currently. It could be that he was respecting his obligations and image. Either way when the time comes hopefully he can safely and responsibly enjoy.
Not to spoil the entire episode but Iron Mike was asked what shrooms help him do better and his response was, “It helps me be a better me.” Knowing his past, it’s hard to argue against anything that can help him be better. Over a minute after he popped, he’s still happily chewing and responding and is again encouraged to drink his untouched water to which he responds, “It’s not ready yet” followed by more laughter. There’s even a point when the shrooms were finally down and one of Tyson’s pigeons was brought out to accompany him on set. Watch for yourself below.
